The first week is already through and I'm already dangling by a thread. UCLA I put through to the Elite Eight based on the fact that they've lived in the Final Four the last three years. I rocked UNC winning it all and Memphis meeting them there since every other year I've bet against Memphis and have been totally wrong. I have Pitt and Louisville rounding out the Final Four because I just don't think any other teams are good enough to knock off those teams in their respective Regionals. I've been riding the one seed wave because I don't think Duke's a decent two seed, nor Michigan State. UNC is far superior to any other team they'll face until Pitt (editor's note: if they lose to Gonzaga that statement never occured.)
March Madness is crazy because the last three days I've watched more basketball than the rest of the year combined quite possibly. I may have bed sores for sitting in the same place for so long. It brings grown men to drinking at noon and trying to watch 3 TV's at once. It's a cultural phenomenon that doesn't have an equal. I think business should close for the opening rounds on Th. and Friday. I don't want to use vacation to enjoy the sacred holiday fully. I was totally OK with having nothing to do besides watch college basketball constantly for the last four days. It's horrible and awesome at the same time. It's like having the Super Bowl expanded for 14 days, or however many there are. It is the best time of year, we have the weather improving (which doesn't matter because you're parked on some form of upholstery all day), and great basketball. So much to be happy about, you almost forget that the economy is completely screwed.
Go Duke!
